What is the role of the Telecommunications Commission?

The Telecommunications Commission advises the Minister on the licensing of telecommunications service providers. The Minister may delegate functions to the Commission as necessary. The Commission can conduct enquiries under the Act. In this regard the Commission has all the powers of a court of summary jurisdiction in relation to summoning of witnesses, examination on oath and compelling of the production of documents etc related to the enquiry.
