Must I always use the tariff codes from the First Schedule

No, you do not need to use one of the tariff codes in the First Schedule of the Bermuda Customs Tariff Act 1970 ('the Bermuda Nomenclature'). To make the declaration of imported goods easier, the Collector of Customs has authorised all persons declaring imported goods, to declare goods of certain prescribed tariff headings using a single notional 'simplified code' instead of declaring all of the tariff codes that actually apply to their goods.
