Is it illegal to use a metal detector in a park?

Metal detectors are only permitted to be used on the public beaches and applicants must obtain a special permit from the Department of Parks in Botanical Gardens.

At no time can metal detectors be used around forts or other historic sites such as graveyards or lime kilns.
